Hi, Kate, I jsut read your blog on the Inaguration Day, and I could not agree with you more. Your blog was beautifully written and I am really impressed. In fact, my husband and I were just about talking about the same thing you were pointing out as we we wtached the new first family was emerging. Now we approach almost the 100th day of Obama administration, and he has done so much for our country already. True, the tasks ahead of us are daunting, but I believe that, with the spirit we have witnessed that day, we can conqure lots of things. I pray that this President will prevail, because that, I believe, can lead to the expansion of humanity into the world where such thing continues to be distant illusion. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I am glad that you once again reminded me of that day.

Hi Kate!
I haven't been feeling very well, as I have a sinus infection, and lately I have begun to miss home and my animals ALOT. It was so nice to be able to come back to my dorm after a rough day and read your blog. I miss Tory a lot, usually when I was feeling like this I could simply go visit him and he knew just how to make me feel better. As I read your blog I got a sense of déjà vu, because I went through the exact same struggles as you when I first got him. I don't think that we were ready to even start cantering for almost 3 months after I first started riding him, and once we started, the transitions were extremely difficult. I to was "stuck at the kiddy table" ( I love the expression because that’s exactly how I felt) working simply in circles and not being allowed to venture out to the rest of the arena for some time. One thing that I did once we started using the entire arena was to make a small circle and as we began to reach the track I would almost have him leg yield into the canter. Using my inside leg and simply using my outside leg almost as a barrier to keep him from drifting too much, and then using my seat to push him forward. It seemed to work with him especially when he was having a hard time concentrating and things were getting frustrating. I would even do that on a larger circle, making the smaller circle inside of it. Reading your experiences really cheers me up and I'm so happy that he is bringing you as much joy as he brought me. Even though he had his stubborn moods and even though each ride I found a new challenge, I loved every moment of riding and being around him. I hope that he’s treating you well and good luck with everything, it sounds like you two are really getting to know each other and I am excited to hear about your future together.

Give him a big hug for me,
Kourt

Your blog was a nice surprise tonight. I first found your website when struggling to find a saddle about 2 years ago. My search was "hard to fit arabian horse". Being too shy for my own good, (and besides we live on oppisite sides of the country...) I never contacted you. I sort of gave up, but found encouragement from another site, which offered suggestions for conditioning, including riding bareback. So bareback it has been, and a wonderful experience for both me and my horse. My balance, our communication, and trust, have grown more than they ever would have... but I'm still hoping for the perfect saddle.
I found you again tonight when searching for information on a Croscy saddle I'm trying. When I saw your name I smiled, and read your blog; read your routine and smiled again. Just tonight I was saying how much I love my routine. It means more to me than anything else I do with my horse, my home. Getting up and letting the dogs out, making the coffee, going out to feed the horse, the chickens; taking a walk with the dogs around the garden, planning another day...
