Scientifically Proven Saddles, Bridles, and Girths
We love Fairfax for their commitment to designing and then testing innovative saddle designs that enhance the horse’s freedom of movement and strengthen communication. Using pressure-mapping and gait-analysis technology, Fairfax is able to demonstrate improved performance during the design and development process. In addition to forward-thinking construction, Fairfax saddles feature modern designs, luxurious leather options, and customized fitting.
These changeable gullet bars are available in seven sizes from Narrow/Medium to XW/XXW. The changeable gullet system allows the rider to quickly and easily adjust the width of the tree at the pommel as their horse grows, develops, or changes shape after time off.
One of Fairfax’s most interesting design innovations! In these saddles, the weight-bearing part of the panel is separated from the part under the rider’s knee that lies over the horse’s shoulder. This allows the horse’s shoulder to move independently, without pressure from the rider’s knee. Fairfax’s testing has shown that this panel design improves limb extension, joint flexion and gait symmetry.
All Fairfax saddles are flocked with 100% pure British wool. The panels of Performance-line saddles are also lined with Prolite, which improves pressure distribution. The Prolite lining still allows these saddles to be traditionally flocked and adjusted by a saddle fitter.
Fairfax Performance Calf Leathers are made from the finest calf leather with a non-stretch core for strength and durability. Embossed with the Fairfax logo and finished with quality stainless steel buckles, these exquisite leathers will complement your Fairfax saddle perfectly. Available in black or brown. 48″-64″ (64″ length is available in black leather only).
The Fairfax Performance Dressage girth has been designed, tested and scientifically proven using pressure mapping and gait analysis. The girth is handmade in Walsall, England, and constructed from luxuriously soft and supple English leather. The contoured shape avoids pinching or pressure on the sensitive area behind the elbow. This girth is lined with Prolite, a material known for its ability to distribute pressure, absorb impact, and prevent rubbing. The Prolite edge “floats” so the horse’s muscles can move beneath rather than bang against the edge of the girth. The combination of the anatomic contoured shape and Prolite edge creates a buffer zone rather than a hard edge.
Note about ordering: We order each high-quality Fairfax Performance Dressage girth individually. Please allow extra time for shipping.
Rapide’s Leather Gel is designed to clean and feed leather. The gel is an emulsion of mineral oils, water, carnauba (vegetable) wax, and beeswax. A little goes a long way! Fairfax recommends Rapide’s Leather Gel for use on Fairfax and Kent & Masters leather products.
To use, try the leather gel first on a small area. Apply a small amount to a clean cloth or sponge. Rub the gel into the leather and let it soak. Then, polish with a clean and dry cloth. Don’t use this gel on suede or nubuck leathers!

The Spencer Monoflap dressage saddle was designed in consultation with Olympic medalist Spencer Wilton. This saddle features a wider and more open seat for riders who prefer either more room in the seat, or a more relaxed dressage position. The seat is also more forward to precisely align the rider over the horse’s center of balance. The concealed knee block can be adjusted. Contrast stitching adds an elegant and modern touch!
The Gareth Monoflap dressage saddle was designed in consultation with 2014 WEG team silver medalist Gareth Hughes. This saddle is designed to maximize the rider’s connection and closeness with the horse without sacrificing adjustability. The saddle includes three thicknesses of adjustable shoulder blocks to center the saddle over a horse with asymetrical shoulders. A recess in the flap provides even more closeness without rubbing against the stirrup leathers. Short or long flaps.
